Alumni/ae Services
Since
1871, United Theological Seminary has been preparing leaders for the
church.
Our graduates have served with distinction as pastors, priests, teachers, professors, bishops, community organizers, administrators, health professionals, and business leaders.
Our alumni/ae are serving in all 50 states and in more than 30 countries.
Alumni/ae Association
All persons who have graduated from United or one of our predecessor schools, Bonebrake Theological Seminary or the Evangelical School of Theology, are members of our Alumni/ae Association. The lifetime membership fee is assessed to current students.
An executive committee composed of officers and members-at-large governs the Alumni/ae Association.
Lifelong Learning
The Alumni/ae
Association supports lifelong learning in several ways.
Stimulating academic inquiry is offered through both the J. Arthur Heck Lectures (each spring) and the Samuel Proctor Lectures (each January).
An annual winter retreat is sponsored by the alumni/ae in the Eastern PA/Central PA/ Baltimore-Washington area featuring a United faculty member.
In addition, the Journal of Theology is produced annually as a joint publication with the Methodist Theological School in Ohio.
Alumni/ae Awards
The Distinguished Alumnus/a Award and the Award for Effective Ministry are granted to United graduates as deemed appropriate by the executive committee.
The Alumni/ae Association Executive Committee feels there are many among United’s alumni/ae whose character, service and accomplishments merit recognition. We seek candidates whose ministries and lives embody the spirit and visions of United and whose goal has been to make known God’s redeeming activity through faithful servant ministry in the world. These awards are not confined to persons in parish work. Alumni/ae are invited to submit nominations for these awards.
Recipients are recognized at the annual Alumni/ae Association Banquet held in conjunction with the Heck Lectures and Spring Convocation.
Graduates of forty years or more are inducted into the Eckels Society during the Spring Convocation.
