Beginning in 2011
Roots and Wings Certificates may be earned by in the following ways:

Becoming part of a cohort group of people working together toward a certificate in a particular area of specialization. Cohort groups are usually developed through churches and are open to non-members of the congregation. Contact The Institute for Applied Theology for available groups.

Working individually. Sign up to become a Roots and Wings student by filling out the online or mail-in application, and submitting it along with a $20 application fee.

Requirements
Students may work toward a Roots and Wings Certificate by taking three “Roots” courses, one each in Bible, Theology, and Spiritual Formation, and three Wings courses in various areas of ministry. After completing a minimum of 120 contact hours of instruction, students will receive a Roots and Wings Certificate at an annual event held each spring at the seminary.
