Developing a 21st Century Hermeneutic for Preaching
Dr. Harold Carter, Jr.
Christian generations have either intentionally or unintentionally looked through certain lenses that impacted their eras and therefore used those lenses to interpret scripture for preaching. Such lenses that have shaped history’s hermeneutic have been Christocentrism, evangelism, doctrines, politics, liberation theology, and prosperity, to name a few. This focus group will seek to ascertain what hermeneutical lens, or lenses, are influencing our 21st century hermeneutic for preaching and develop preaching modals for implementing the same.
