The Center for Urban Ministry is becoming a major provider of urban ministry training with classes offered multi-contextually. Courses are offered for working pastors and lay ministers who are actively serving in urban settings, but who may not have participated in traditional degree programs; pastors and congregational leaders desiring to re-tool for ministry and outreach in urban contexts; and seminarians interested in preparing for urban ministry through both classroom and contextual experience.

  The Whole Gospel for the Whole City – That the City May Be Whole.
  
  The Center for Urban Ministry trains servant leaders for the work of God’s Kingdom in the city. It provides learning opportunities for all persons, regardless of educational experience. Programs are ecumenical and inclusive, working across denominations. The General Board of Higher Education and Ministry offers an Urban Ministry Certification through the Urban Center at United Theological Seminary. It is a five course program offered throughout the year. The Urban Certificate courses are also offered in the Master of Divinity program concurrently. The Center also sponsors conferences each year and provides consultation with local churches.
