Support New Students During Their Seminary Experience
Enrollment for new Masters and D.Min. students continues to increase each semester! While we celebrate the explosion of new student enrollment, the Alumni/ae Association is committed to deepening relationships with our current and future alumni/ae. You can assist through service as an alumni/ae ambassador to first-year students.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of an Alumni/ae Ambassador include:
Commitment to a student during their entire seminary education
Monthly contact with student via email, phone, social media or face to face. (to be negotiated between ambassador and student)
Prayer and spiritual care support
Celebration of student's achievements
History
In the fall of 2011 the Alumni/ae Association Executive Committee (AAEC) surveyed United’s alumni/ae asking how you might be involved in the ongoing ministry of United Theological Seminary. Many expressed interest in being a mentor for a current student.
In the following spring the AAEC further envisioned that initiative to become the United Alumni/ae Ambassador program.
A partnership was established with Student Services for support, resources and accountability between ambassadors and students. The AAEC then contacted interested alumni/ae and shared the opportunity and guidelines. In May 2012 they matched 30 new incoming students with their alumni/ae ambassadors.
We continue to recruit additional Alumni/ae Ambassadors to match our growing enrollment. In the fall of 2012 over 125 new students began their theological education. Will you answer the call to support these new students during their seminary experience?
We are very excited about this new initiative and appreciate your involvement.
